MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -The Beta Alpha Alpha Kemper County chapter of Zeta Phi Beta sorority hosted a water drive Sunday afternoon.
“We want to pour into Porterville. That’s our slogan that we have, and we’re giving out water. We have water for whoever needs it, all they have to do is come get or we can bring it to them,” said Toccara Arnold, Chapter Member.
The water drive is in response to residents in Porterville not receiving water for several weeks. The organization saw this as a way to help their community.
“We saw the need, we know the need, we’re meeting the need,” said Bobbie White, President of the chapter.
“We wanted to do something as a community because that’s one of our founding principles, service, and so we serve our community, and this is our community,” said Arnold
The water drive is allowing Zeta Phi Beta to step up in a huge way in Mississippi. They would like to see others join the fray.
“Blue and white is dominant out here serving the community, and we just ask all the other Greek organizations to step up, follow our lead,” said White.
