LOS ANGELES – A woman in her 30s has been arrested for allegedly opening fire on Rihanna’s Los Angeles home while the pop superstar was home inside.
LAPD officers responded to the 9500 block of Heather Road in the Beverly Crest neighborhood around 1:15 p.m. Sunday after receiving reports of shots fired, police confirmed to KTLA.
Roughly 10 rounds were fired at the singer’s home from a vehicle that had either stopped or was parked across the street, the Los Angeles Times reported. At least one bullet pierced a wall of the sprawling mansion, where Rihanna lives with her partner, rapper ASAP Rocky, and their three children. The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, fled south on Coldwater Canyon Drive in a white Tesla.
Investigators spoke with the reporting party and were able to obtain information on the suspect, who was arrested without incident a short time later.
A weapon was recovered during the arrest, police said. Footage captured by KTLA after the shooting showed a stretch of the street blocked off with yellow crime scene tape, while officers appeared to be speaking with private security personnel.
Neighbor Isabel Thorne said she was washing dishes when she heard the gunfire erupt outside.
“I was a little shocked. We don’t hear that kind of thing in this neighborhood. It’s pretty quiet,” she said at the scene. “I just heard one shot. It was really loud. Everything in this valley echoes. Even when someone has a party, when there’s music.”
Thorne said officers arrived within ten minutes. She added that while she didn’t initially know the gunfire was aimed at Rihanna’s property, most neighbors are aware of who lives there because tour buses routinely pass through the area.
Police confirmed that no one was injured.
