Lee Dong Gun shared heartfelt concerns about his daughter Roa while appearing on the SBS variety show My Little Old Boy.
During the March 8th episode, viewers got a glimpse of Lee Dong Gun’s daily life after he recently moved into a new home. One of the first things he focused on was decorating a room for Roa, who is now in third grade.
The actor had previously promised her, “When you start school, I’ll move to a bigger place and make a room just for you.” The move was largely made with that promise in mind. Lee Dong Gun carefully arranged the room himself, even displaying Roa’s favorite KPop Demon Hunters figurines in a showcase, showing the thoughtful attention he put into her.
When fellow guest Choi Dae Chul visited the house, the two naturally began talking about their daughters.
Choi Dae Chul shared, “Until my daughter reached high school, it was actually a bit hard to enter her room.” When Kim Jun Ho asked if that was because of puberty, Choi explained, “You have to knock before going in, and things get sensitive, like them changing clothes.”
He added that puberty often begins around fifth or sixth grade in elementary school. Lee Dong Gun admitted the thought worries him. “I’m scared about that too,” he said. “When Roa goes through puberty, I don’t know how her feelings about having a dad who doesn’t live with her might change.”
According to Lee Dong Gun, Roa enjoys the time they spend together but occasionally says, “I wish I could live with you, Dad.” Each time, he simply replies, “Dad wishes that too.”
The moment revealed both Lee Dong Gun’s deep affection for his daughter and the complicated emotions he carries as a father who cannot live with her full time.
