Netflix’s new series Boyfriend on Demand is already making hearts flutter worldwide.
The romantic comedy starring Jisoo and Seo In Guk premiered on the 6th and quickly sparked buzz among global viewers. The story follows Mi Rae (Jisoo), a webtoon producer worn down by real life who turns to a virtual dating simulation subscription service to experience romance.
The digital dating scenarios deliver plenty of swoon-worthy moments, while Mi Rae’s journey toward finding the courage to love again adds a warm emotional touch.
Viewers are also loving the chemistry between Jisoo and Seo In Guk. Their characters, Mi Rae and Kyung Nam, start off at odds before slowly growing closer, raising the show’s romantic tension.
The series features a star-studded lineup of actors appearing as Mi Rae’s virtual partners, including Seo Kang Joon, Lee Soo Hyuk, Ong Seong Wu, Lee Jae Wook, Lee Hyun Wook, Kim Young Dae, Jay Park, and Lee Sang Yi. Kim Sung Cheol also appears as Mi Rae’s ex-boyfriend Se Joon.
International media have also taken notice. TIME wrote the series “caps the potential of its central romance” and praised Jisoo’s performance, calling the female-driven Netflix K-drama “an entertaining winner.”
Decider highlighted “Jisoo’s charm and the different dating scenarios her character will experience,” while The Economic Times said Jisoo and Seo In Guk deliver “authentic and playful” performances that make the show hard to resist.

Korean viewers are just as enthusiastic, with comments like “The most fun and swoon-worthy rom-com I’ve seen lately” and “To celebrate the series, the cast will host a fan event called the “Subscriber After Party,” featuring themed photo zones and interactive exhibits inspired by the show’s virtual dating world.”
Another viewer wrote, “It feels like Jisoo finally found the genre that fits her perfectly,” while others praised Seo In Guk, saying, “Seo In Guk is great. A rom-com veteran finally doing what he does best.”
