SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) —Good NAtured has been located east of downtown Sioux Falls on 8th Street since October of 2024.
KELOLAND News talked with owner Shannon Ward right before the grand opening.
“I have a selection of South Dakota-made products, so the consumables would be from Covert Ale, Songbird Kombucha, and Heart of the City and Forrest’s Fresh,” Owner, Good NAtured, Shannon Ward said in 2024.
But now the business is moving. The new location will open doors the previous location didn’t allow.
“We have a draft, like a tap system at the new space. So we’ll be able to actually serve drinks, which here we had bottled and canned options, there we will be able to mix things,” Ward said.
Having a business in this area of town hasn’t always been an easy place to do it.
“There are times when I am here by myself and I’m a little more leery than I would be if I, hadn’t experienced some of the things that I have,” Ward said
But Ward says that it isn’t as unsafe as you may think it is.
“There’s a cool new coffee shop, flower shop. There’s a great Mexican grocery here. We have a bakery next door right next door to us. That’s amazing. And, so people have this perception that they can’t come down here because it’s not safe. I’ve lived in a lot of big cities. This is nothing compared to that,” Ward said.
And as Good NAtured leaves this area, Ward wants the community to still pour into 8th Street.
“We have a lot of problems. We can label them as that. But we also have a lot of opportunities to find solutions. And I think that’s what I’d like for this neighborhood to focus on is some of the situations that different parts of town deal with can be addressed by the people that live there if everybody gets involved in the conversation,” Ward said.
Good NAtured plans to move into the new location in April and have a grand opening at the end of May. The last day in its current space is March 18.
