Sheriff Country is gaining strong viewership as its first season moves toward the finale on CBS and Paramount+. The show is a spin-off of Fire Country, the procedural series led by Max Thieriot. CBS earlier confirmed that
Fire Country will return for a fifth season. Reports also said that showrunner Tia Napolitano will leave the series after Season 4.
The spin-off follows Sheriff Mickey Fox, played by Morena Baccarin. The story takes place in the town of Edgewater and focuses on cases handled by Mickey and her team.
Other main characters include Boone, played by Matt Lauria, and Travis, played by Christopher Gorham.
The show first aired in October 2025. Since then, the season has continued with new episodes that follow different investigations in the town. After a winter break, the series returned with more episodes that continue the main storylines.
The latest episode, titled “The Aftermath,” shows Mickey looking into a case connected to a larger issue in the local justice system.
As the season nears its final episode, the show has also gained attention on streaming. Current data shows Sheriff Country among the ten most-streamed shows on Paramount+ in the United States.
Viewership numbers and streaming results
Recent data shows that Sheriff Country is getting more viewers than Fire Country. Reports say the most recent episode of the spin-off reached 5.03 million viewers. During the same period, Fire Country recorded about 3.75 million viewers.
The difference in audience numbers has been present since the spin-off first aired.
Early reports showed that Sheriff Country started with about 200,000 more viewers than its parent series. The show has kept that lead through several episodes of the first season.
The series is also performing well on streaming. It is currently listed among the ten most-streamed shows on Paramount+ in the United States.
This shows that viewers are also watching the episodes online after the broadcast.
The first season has also received responses from critics. On the review site Rotten Tomatoes, the series currently holds a score of 75 percent.
One critic wrote, “Sheriff Country has already set up some good stories and rivalries in its first episode, and Baccarin strikes the right tone as a person who wants to keep her hometown safe.”
As the finale approaches, the show continues to track viewership across both television and streaming platforms.
Story details before the season finale
The first season of Sheriff Country is close to its final episode. After the winter break, the show returned with more developments involving Sheriff Mickey Fox and her team in Edgewater.
The episode titled “The Aftermath” follows Mickey as she looks into a case connected to the town’s justice system. During the investigation, she begins to find signs of a larger problem that could involve several people in the town.
Boone and Travis also take part in the investigation as they work to understand what is happening.
The upcoming final episode of the season is titled “Plus One.”
The official synopsis explains the main event of the episode. It says, “When a violent home invasion turns out to be the result of a deadly batch of synthetic weed sweeping through Edgewater, Mickey and Boone race to contain the chaos.”
The synopsis also mentions another storyline connected to a missing person case. It adds, “Cassidy uncovers disturbing new clues in her sister’s disappearance case.”
The finale is scheduled to air on March 13. The episode will close the first season story while continuing the investigations that have been part of the show since it first aired in October 2025.
