Go North KC planning World Cup watch parties across Northland

This summer, Northland communities are hosting seven different World Cup match watch parties across the area.

The Kansas City metro is expecting hundreds of thousands of visitors in June and July for the six FIFA World Cup matches hosted at Arrowhead Stadium. Communities across the area are setting up their own watch parties to try to capitalize on the excitement.

Go North KC is working to showcase the Northland to visitors and locals alike. Watch parties will be free and open to the public.

Along with watching the matches, there will be food trucks, family activities, soccer challenges and interactive games.

Megan Sahlfeld with Clay County Tourism stopped by the KMBC9 studio Sunday morning to talk about the different events and why they wanted to spread them across the area.

Here’s the full schedule of Go North watch parties.

June 12: Watch USA vs. Paraguay at Liberty High School.

June 16: Watch Argentina vs. Algeria at Central Bank Sporting Complex in Kansas City.

June 19: Watch USA vs. Australia at Jesse James Park in Kearney.

June 20: Watch Ecuador vs. Curaçao at Happy Rock Park in Gladstone.

June 27: Watch Algeria vs. Austria at Zona Rosa in Kansas City.

July 3: Watch KC’s Round of 32 Match from the new Morton Amphitheater in Riverside.

July 11: Watch KC’s Quarterfinal Match from a street party at Armour Road and Swift Street in North Kansas City.
