SOUTH GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — South Glens Falls students put on their dancing shoes Friday and Saturday for the 49th annual South High Marathon Dance. According to the school district, this year’s event reportedly raised a total of $735,231.64.
The funds will go toward 36 local beneficiaries, including individuals and families in need, as well as several community organizations. Students raised money at various sales and fundraising events, including auctions and a raffle during the dance.
“Every year, the South High Marathon Dance brings our community together and shines a light on the dedication, determination, and hard work of our students,” high school principal Nicky Bogert said. “I couldn’t be more proud of what they achieved.”
This year’s top fundraisers were Aiden Osborn — who was also named top fundraiser for the 2025 marathon dance — Aiden Faulkner and Lucy Pliscofsky. The 2026 Evelyn and Richard Stewart Award was given to Anthony Cooper and the SHMD Volunteer Heart Award went to Abigael Rourke.
“The incredible fundraising success achieved this year speaks to our students’ generosity and unwavering community spirit,” superintendent Kristine Orr said.
The South High Marathon Dance is a longstanding tradition for the South Glens Falls Central School District, beginning in 1978. Over the years, the event has raised more than $10 million.
