Georgia College students raise money for charity at County Line Music Festival

Central Georgia college students turned up the music for a good cause this weekend.

On Saturday, around 4,000 music lovers packed into Baldwin County for the County Line Music Festival, put on by Georgia College and State University students.

“We like giving back to the community,” Will Turner, director of the festival said. “And we like being involved and especially being part of something bigger than yourself.”

Two Greek organizations from GCSU ran the event, which helps raise money for local charities.

The goal — raise $25,000 to help build a house for a single mother and her family.

Organizers say the music fest is a great way to raise money and bring country music fans together.

For the owners of the property that the festival was held at, they say it was an honor.

“Well, my dad was the first dean of the school of business at Georgia College, and he was a native of Texas so when he bought this property 60 years ago this became his little piece of Texas and he enjoyed sharing it with people and I’ve tried to do the same,” Frank Specht said.
