On March 7, 2026, American actor Ryan Gosling went on to the Saturday Night Live (SNL) set to host that day’s segment of the show, while promoting his upcoming movie called Project Hail Mary.
During Gosling’s opening monologue, while he started the show, he suddenly was able to spot singer and songwriter Harry Styles sitting in the midst of the audience members.
The two of them shared some friendly banter with each other after Ryan acknowledged his presence on the set, and Harry also played along and went with the flow.
The cameraman who was shooting this particular scene of the Saturday Night Live episode was also seen wearing a t-shirt about Harry Styles, and a few minutes into it, Gosling asked him to stop the split-screen view and solely focus on the episode; the cameraman ended up panning in only on Harry Styles instead of Ryan.

Details explored on singer Harry Styles crashing actor Ryan Gosling’s Saturday Night Live set during the promotion of the upcoming movie Project Hail Mary
On the March 7, 2026, episode of Saturday Night Live, the special guest who was supposed to host the episode was Ryan Gosling.
Ryan Gosling’s upcoming movie, called Project Hail Mary, is all set to be released on March 20, 2026, and is a screenplay adaptation of author Andy Weir’s popular novel of the same name, which was published in 2021. He had come to SNL to promote his film.
During Ryan Gosling’s opening monologue at the beginning of the episode, he looked into the audience members and saw that popular singer and songwriter Harry Styles was among them, sitting in the audience section.
Gosling, whose most recent hit movie was Barbie, in which he played the character of Ken, was surprised to see him sitting there and said,
“Is that … Harry Styles? What are you doing here, man?”
Harry seemed to be having fun and responded to him and said,
“It’s been a while, so I wanted to watch, get a feel for it”.
While the show continued, Gosling ended up referring to his upcoming film Project Hail Mary as Project Harry Styles instead.
He also seemed to be a little jealous of how the attention of the entire show slowly became focused on Harry instead of him and his monologue.
In response to Harry, he added,
“So professional, that’s so awesome”.
Ryan Gosling went on to talk about the plot narrative and storyline of his upcoming movie, and shed details on his character, called Ryland Grace, who had ended up in a spaceship without any memory of his past and how he had gotten there.
However, he focused on trying to find answers to why the sun was dying out, and, in the process, met with an alien called Rocky, who was also coincidentally on the same mission.
While talking about this, he again spoke to Harry and said,
“Could you listen less cool? It’s like your coolness is becoming an issue”.
Gosling spoke in a very Ken-like manner when he spoke to his co-star Sandra Huller, who had sung Harry’s song called Sign of the Times in the movie, and said,
“Nobody wants this”.
