An indoor adventure park is responding after a “teen takeover” event caused chaos at their south Toledo facility on Saturday night.
A spokesperson for Urban Air Adventure and Trampoline Park says the event, which was promoted on social media beforehand, was not sanctioned by the company.
Video of what commenters are calling a “riot” made the rounds on social media since it happened.
WTOL 11 spoke to witnesses on Saturday who said a fight started inside the building which caused a rush to the door.
“Takeover” events have been happening around the country in recent days and appear to be a trend amongst teenagers.
An AI-made flyer for the event that WTOL 11 found online promoted the event as starting at noon until the business closed.
Urban Air’s communication team sent a statement to WTOL 11 on Sunday which reads:
“At Urban Air, guest safety is our highest priority. We are aware of the incident that occurred last night at our Toledo, OH, park and are grateful that no one was harmed.
“It is important to note that no teen night was planned or advertised at this location at the time of this incident. An unauthorized “teen takeover” not created, endorsed, or affiliated with Urban Air, circulated online and falsely promoted a gathering at our park. This misleading post resulted in an unexpected influx of attendees who had the intent to cause disruption.
“Urban Air remains committed to providing a secure, family-friendly experience for our guests. We value the community’s support and will continue providing a fun, safe space for families.”
Toledo police say there were no injuries or arrests.
