Gina Carano chose former UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili as her training partner for her upcoming fight against Ronda Rousey, and she couldn’t refrain from comparing ‘The Machine’s’ vitality to Hollywood stars.
On March 5, Carano shared an Instagram post featuring a series of snaps from her training session with Dvalishvili at Syndicate MMA. The two were engaged in a light but focused technical drill, which allowed Carano to witness Dvalishvili’s “electric” vitality.
The caption to her post displayed her appreciation for the unique experience. Carano penned, “I’ve stood across some of the best actors in the world, but to stand across a person like @merab.dvalishvili was electric.”
Carano also made a hilarious revelation, stating, “He was just teaching me a few of his dance moves.”
The Georgian fighter, known for his seemingly infinite cardio and elite grappling, can be seen demonstrating some hardcore grappling techniques and encouraging Carano during the session. Their interaction felt more like a collaborative training session rather than a full sparring routine.
Carano also made sure to thank Dvalishvili’s coach, John Wood, for arranging the meet. This was the first training video Carano shared since her fight with Ronda Rousey was announced.
But while Carano is sweating hard to prepare for the fight, her rival isn’t sitting idle either.
Ronda Rousey Is Also Gearing Up to Fight Gina Carano
While Carano publicized her first training video just three days ago, Ronda Rousey might be running ahead of her in this department.
Rousey started uploading her training videos even before the fight was announced. Her videos triggered speculations about her return to the cage, which were later authenticated by MVP announcing the Rousey vs. Carano fight.
However, Rousey’s most recent training video on Instagram displayed that she brought in a new coach, AJ Matthews, to help her prepare for the encounter.
Unlike Carano’s series of snaps, Rousey’s post displayed the actual video of her striking training session with Matthews. ‘Rowdy’ looked sharp while hitting the mitts.
So, while both the stalwarts of women’s MMA are leaving no stone unturned to prepare for the encounter, who do you think will have the last laugh?
