Kate Martin’s recent post celebrating her season in Unrivaled has gone viral on Instagram, particularly because of some unique comments made by Caitlin Clark.
Martin and Breeze BC made it to the playoffs of Unrivaled 2026, but they crashed out of the tournament following their 73-69 defeat against Mist on March 2. However, regardless of their performance, Martin put an Instagram post on March 7 to cherish her bonding with her Breeze comrades. Her caption read, “Thankful for these people & @unrivaledbasketball.”
Martin’s post garnered a lot of reactions, including one from the Fever No. 22 herself. Clark’s comment read, “Shoulda used the other caption,” which increased speculation among fans about what she meant. The comment received over a thousand likes on Instagram and quickly became a viral topic of conversation after a fan posted it on X.
Fans found no real explanation, so they assumed it was an inside joke between the duo, something they may never find out.
Other WNBA stars, including Martin’s Breeze compatriot, Piage Bueckers, also took to the comments section. ‘Buckets’ stated, “Bae I love you, you my everything.” Meanwhile, the Golden State Valkyries star, Veronica Burton, mentioned that she liked the last pic of her photo dump the most. She penned, “Last pic best pic.”
Well, the playful comment from Clark does not come as a surprise, as the history between her and Martin goes back to their days spent in Iowa City.
The two were the core leaders of the team over the four seasons they spent together. Martin was the “Glue Girl” of the team, keeping things steady at the back while Clark provided her offensive touch as usual.
The duo won three Big Ten tournament titles together and also appeared in two NCAA championship games. The bond they built during their days at Iowa has carried over to the WNBA, even though they are now on separate paths.
Kate Martin Felt “Worried” About Being Caitlin Clark’s Partner
Clark and Martin also spend time together outside of basketball quite often. The duo appeared on the November 5, 2024, episode of the Fresh Tawk with Jada Gyamfi, where Martin made a startling admission.
Martin revealed that she initially felt nervous about forming a partnership with CC because of her competitive nature.
“I was really worried to be your partner because I thought you wouldn’t worry at all.” Martin said, to which Clark said with disbelief on her face, “Are you serious?”
The hosts of the podcasts also took Martin’s side in this matter, emphasizing that Clark is more competitive than the average person.
However, given the strong bonding between these two, do you think they will represent the same side in the future like they once did?
